Design house Extans has introduced the Akhal, a luxurious bicycle available in two limited editions, Shadow and Shine.
The goal was to design a modern, simple, and elegant bike using high-quality, lightweight materials to create a long-lasting, iconic object.
The Akhal was inspired by the Akhal-Teke horse, known for its intelligence, endurance, and metallic coat. The bike's pure form aesthetic reflects the horse, with the Shadow edition featuring a black chrome finish and the Shine edition a silver-sand white finish.
The carbon monocoque frame and CNC machined head, dropouts, and seat clamp, all made from a single solid aluminum billet, give the Akhal a graceful and agile design.
The bike is handmade in England and there are 99 limited editions of the Shadow and Shine available, made to order. The accompanying forged carbon bike stand, with a CNC machined aluminum base, is a minimalistic, sculptural piece that can display the bike as a work of art when not in use. Extans also offers bespoke customization of the Akhal, allowing riders to co-create a one-of-a-kind bike that reflects their individuality.
The Akhal aims to foster a strong emotional connection between rider and bike and enhance the riding experience through its refined beauty.
