VEJRHØJ is an independent watch brand based in Copenhagen, Denmark. The company merges natural hardwood, stainless steel and sapphire crystal glass to create designs that are simple, yet distinctive.
They sent me The Rose Watch for the sake of this review.
First impressions were great with this watch—once I opened the package, I was greeted with a well made wooden box with the VEJRHØJ logo debossed on the top.
Opening it up, you’re greeted with the watch sitting inside the dark, padded interior.
The watch itself is understated in design. The light, walnut dial is surrounded with a 316L stainless steel case with a rose gold finish, attached to a dark strap, giving it some interesting contrast overall.
The dial is void of any markers; instead they’ve been engraved on the inner bezel. This is a nice touch to keep things looking simple on the main focus of the watch. On closer inspection, you can clearly see the grain of the wood, which gives the watch a natural focal point.
The crystal is made of sapphire, so it’s safe to say it’ll be pretty scratch resistant.
The black strap has simple rounded edges, complimented with hardware matching the color of the case.
The underside is a surprising cream color, with a stamp indicating that it’s genuine calf leather.
On the other half of the strap, you can see the VEJRHØJ logo gently stamped into the leather.
The case back is clean with no branding, which I always love to see.
Although there is a smaller logo at the end of the buckle.
The watch is 40mm wide and 7.5mm thick, which is nice for a watch of this style. It’s not too big like a sport watch, but it’s not too small like a dress watch—it sits somewhere comfortably in between.
The movement is powered by the quartz Miyota 2025. It’s nothing too fancy, but it’s an affordable, reliable movement that’s in the majority of watches around this price point.
I get to see a lot of these new watch brands popping up, and while the innards are typically the same across them all, it’s nice to see VEJRHØJ try to stand out from the crowd by utilizing wood in a clean and classy design. If you’re looking for a soft spoken watch thats a bit different than the competition, VEJRHØJ would be a good place to start looking.
