Armed with a deep understanding of the innate characteristics of gorgeous woods and rich leathers, Kofod-Larsen designed several arresting furniture exhibitions in the 1940s, and he won the annual award from the Danish Cabinetmakers’ Guild in 1948. A few years later, Swedish furniture maker OPE Möbler commissioned Kofod-Larsen to design a series of Danish furniture to help stimulate the then-sluggish Swedish furniture industry. One of those was the elegant Seal Collection (1956), otherwise known as the Sälen Collection, with its carefully shaped wood frames and luxurious leather upholstery.
