View InstagramThis is an interesting one. The Play Date is a new handheld system from the Panic development studio with some design help from one of my favorite design teams at @teenageengineering. See that handle on the right? That's actually a crank that pops out of the case, allowing for a new way to interact with the included games. More details to come at https://play.date, I'm pretty intrigued about this one.
View InstagramWAVE TV. Red Dot Design Award Design Concept, Winner 2018 from @sinanayurt "Wave TV, offers a high-quality media device as a decorative object that will look beautiful in living places, even while not being used. Using the subwoofer in the center as its carrier, Wave provides an entire image without a stand. The central body which includes the subwoofer and television's electronic accents connect to the tv from a single point, combining the input of other devices, eliminating cable clutter. Also, at the point where the center body is divided into two, low-frequency sounds which come from the subwoofer, are scattering around the television by multiplying against the surface. The speakers are in a separate tetrahedral shape from the television, with high sound houses. Thus, the speakers offer high-quality sound in an 8mm led tv. Also thanks to the wave-patterned tampered glass which is one of the carrier elements, when devices are hidden behind the TV, thanks to the transparency of the glass, they do not lose their relationships with their controllers."
View InstagramI just did a full review of the @getawair 2nd generation—in my opinion, the most well-designed air quality monitor on the market. It has a minimal design, touch controls, smart features, can tie in with home automation tasks, and has a nice mobile app. Plus nerdy data is kinda fun 🤓. Check out minimalgoods.co for the full review (link is in bio, and in my story)

View InstagramThis crowd is usually pretty split, but what do you think about the new iPhone? Some of those wide-angle shots look amazing (especially the transitions, and UI around previewing each lens), so I'm curious to get my hands on one to try it out. Beyond that, how about this new Midnight Green?

View Instagram“The hardware design is pure and true to the internal components,” shares Senior Design Director Nicolas Denhez. Whether it's the black circular vent on Xbox Series S, the grid of circles and insert molded disc drive detail on Xbox Series X, or the squares and circles of the D-pad on the controller, we use those basic elements to build a consistent and flexible design lexicon across our family of devices. This approach grounds our design in a quiet and uncomplicated form that brings the gaming experience to the forefront.

View InstagramThis clean PC case concept from @mosaikcases gives me hope for the future, although it looks like their project is now on hold. It feels like the PC component market is cornered by bad design and an abundance of flashing RBG, and I wish more designs like this were available. Any other brands in this space I should keep an eye on?

View InstagramKiyo is a water bottle with UV purifying technology designed for the travel brand Monos. The design is a modern translation of a water bottle archetype, where the iconic silhouette has been simplified into a soft and gentle shape. The application of powder coating on the double walled steel bottle embraces the powder’s natural texture and the additional sand-like granular pattern creates a natural and nuanced aesthetic that is warm to the touch. The silicone loop around the neck is a detail that invites you to pick up and touch, and the silicone pad on the bottom of the bottle provides a soft landing so as to not damage the table or create a loud noise. The result is a carefully crafted object rather than an industrial tool, having a caring and considerate personality with a very essential and simple purpose.
View InstagramConway Icon Air Purifier designed by @fuseprojectsf Rather than imposing a boxy or round plastic object that stands out as utilitarian technology, the Icon uses new geometry that allows the air purifier to sit along a wall, further blending smart technology into the home environment. We worked with Coway to develop a smaller and flatter form factor that gives the air purifier a much lower profile and flexibility in room placement. The rectangular configuration minimizes the size impact, while appearing as a small commode or side table at first glance. To create an even more seamless integration into the living space, the Icon’s design features include invisible LED lights, neutral color palette options, and dual functionality like wireless charging. The refined materials and wood finish, neutral color palette textiles, furniture feet, and simple details add beauty to any home, workplace, or hospitality environment.
